Looking for a way to volunteer and help out some girls around your own age? Check out this opportunity:

BECCA’S CLOSET

Becca’s Closet donates new and gently worn formal dresses free of charge to high school girls who would be unable to afford to attend their proms or other special events without help. Becca’s Closet has helped thousands of girls attend their formal events.

Becca’s Closet was originally launched in South Florida by Rebecca Kirtman, a high school student who started the dress bank in an effort to help less affluent girls attend proms and special events. Becca collected about 250 prom dresses and gave them to needy girls across Florida. In August 2003, Becca was killed in a tragic car accident. In honor of her memory, friends and family turned the dress bank into a federally certified charity. Becca’s Closet has now grown into a national organization with over 80 chapters.

If you would like to donate to the Memphis chapter of Becca’s Closet, email fabulousformals@yahoo.com or call 901-388-5018.  They accept dresses, shoes, and accessories.

If you’d like to volunteer and develop leadership skills, build your college resume and contribute to your community, you can also do that using the contact information above.
